Window treatments can be very intimidating for some. Which option to go with- curtains, roller shades, woven shades, valances? And the list goes on. Then there's sizing and where to install... it's a lot to consider.
Here's a general guideline on what to choose for your windows.
Multiple individual windows in a space, opt for woven or roller shades. Curtains may look too busy.
Larger window units look great with curtains. Look for panels that are double the width of the window. So if the window is 50" wide then opt for 50" wide panels on each side.
Consider valances to add extra height to some windows.
Curtain rods should extend at least 10" -20" off the sides of the window trim. This allows for the curtains to stay open and the window to look larger. The rod should also be a 1"-3" inches from the ceiling and perhaps about 6"-8" above the top window trim. Window and ceiling heights all differ so these rules may vary depending on the install.
Go custom if you can, your local window treatment store will benefit you with warranties, the best advice, various material options, and custom fits.
